Rounded corners and shadowing comes to GameCP

A more modern look has come to the X and Fresh (blue) styles for GameCP.

Hundreds of template files were changed to create a uniform class for tables, table headers and footers. While many were already correct a lot of bad class assignments made this type of feature impossible.

Beta users can enjoy this feature now! We will release a public version after all testing is complete.

Manage Game Updates gets a face lift

Manage Game Updates was one of the last sections in GameCP to require an update to utilize the new, modern, style of command execution created with GameCPX.

This update adds "wait for reply", multiple game selection and a fully working archive download system.

Expect to see this released in v2085 or above.

GameCPX is nearing completion of the stable product.

This means we primarily have all bugs fixed, proper installers and documentation to back everything up.

Over the last days in January we will be working to finalize the documentation, installers and any new problems reported. This time will be taken to ensure everything is working smooth start to finish for nearly all of the hundreds of possible server configurations out there.

The website has been updated with a few more download links and the wiki has been cleaned up, updated and checked to ensure accuracy.

GameCPX, the new version of GameCP, has progressed very quickly and is ahead of schedule for testing and debugging.

Another sudden outage at our long term provider - GoWebMan.com - forced me to switch everything over to our new server hosted with ContinuumDatacenters.com .

Dual 3.2ghz xeons with 6G memory and a 10,000RPM Raptor

For a basic web-server we're talkn some good stuff! Running virtualized Debian systems thanks to XenCenter our web-services have never been more secure.

I hope to see this server last GameCP another 5 years - now if our data-center can keep pace with the hardware!

TCAdmin Game Import Script

I have taken about 30mins out of my day to create an import script to help import games you have with another popular game panel, TCAdmin.

Download and unzip to your GameCP web folder.

Run tca2gcp.php from your web-browser and import the games. I have already included a list of games publicly listed on the internet via a 3rd party website.

Upload custom games to the tcagames folder and import whatever you like!

Expect to see this in a future release of GameCP - we expect to support much more then just game config importing from other popular & not so popular web panels as their users migrate over to GameCP.

New icon set for GameCP's 'Fresh'

Hello GameCP Followers!

I have completed a new icon set for GameCP. Thanks to the use of a freelance designer and a few weeks of waiting we now have a complete new icon set for the 'fresh' template.

GameCP now features an "icon panel" that auto-sizes, can be moved & removed to your desired position.

New GameCP install programs for FreeBSD and Linux

Happy New Year!

GameCP now has new installers for web-servers on Linux or FreeBSD.

I have spent the last week coding new C++ based applications that are much more advanced then the bash based scripts used since 2005.

The new programs feature auto-configuration for 'ports', 'yum' & 'apt-get' and will detect and install ionCube, apache2, php5 & mysql5 on supported systems.

Now you can install GameCP and its requirements with even less effort! No more trying to figure out how to fix the error - it will do it for you!

You can download the GameCP installers for Linux and FreeBSD:

To run the new installers you must first chmod +x then execute as binary:

GameCP 2009 has been released to license holders using the latest beta version of GameCP.

This version includes many feature updates and user interface enhancements, such as:

We're getting into 2009 and "GameCP 2009" has not been heard of for some time now.

A long list of revisions, additions and bugs has caused a 5 month delay on the GameCP 2009 version but good news is here - it is still being worked on!

With a recent change in the way GameCP uses the Smarty templates I was able to default all the templates to 1 folder allowing customization of only a few files - basically creating templates just got a lot easier!

With the bulk of the css/html already updated for the current "crestix" theme the update for GameCP 2009 is fairly simple. There were be a new navigation, list pages and more ajax built in.

Keep checking the blog for more updates to GameCP 2009 as it progresses.

I spent an hour today creating a new custom script that will generate 2 basic html pages that have information about the game servers you are running.

It is easy to edit and include into your public site so you can share your game server information with your customers, and potential customers, allowing them to check out what you're running.

Turning on and tuning up...

It is about time I fully turn on and start to tune up! Its almost 2010 (in my opinion) and we're heading into a new age of technology. I can either sit in my own world (as I have been) and go at it how I want or jump on board with the rest of the modern web civilization and go with the flow - being more open and ready to jump on new things as they happen.

When it feels like things double every year its easy to sit and watch - I am tired of watching and want to be part of it like everyone else.

At the same time I want to bring GameCP into a new generation of web-software (post web 2.0) . I am no longer interested in my small world of GameCP but am now very interested in the "Global World" of GameCP.

I have spent the better part of the last 12 months working on creating bridges to other countries and looking at creating a more global community behind the GameCP software. We help people all over the world and it has opened my eyes to the potential of internet business and marketing.

I'm turning on to new technology, the blog, twitter and possibly new things not yet created
I'm tuning up to bring GameCP into the future and bring the world closer to it

GameCP has now been part of my life for over 6 years

I have not had much interest in sharing much about it in a public forum such as a blog - or little thoughts on twitter until recently.

As GameCP is growing larger I feel more of a need to open up and allow more of a community to be created around the software. Having a blog will hopefully bring a new age of communication to GameCP and its followers.

Here I hope to post information, new things, ideas and thoughts that hopefully many of you will find interesting or useful.
